Popis: In discussing the degradation of coatings, it is necessary to consider the environments to be examined and the particular sources of data to be utilized. The questions of generation and use of test data are important because the degradation of coatings is important to many industrial applications. A wide variety of tests are available to examine coatings degradation. Some tests attempt to simulate the conditions of use. Others are more concerned with the definition of conditions causing the degradation, such as temperature and gas composition. An important parameter in coatings degradation is the microstructure developed during use in the application of interest. Relevant test data then relate to those tests that duplicate this degradation microstructure.
