Popis: | We present very simple expressions for scaling the well-known first- and second-order modes dispersion curves of circular core fibers in order to predict the propagation characteristics of symmetric waveguides with rectangular or elliptical cores. The theory matches results of numerical analyses in the literature, as well as experimental results taken with different fibers from three manufacturers. Applications in fiber characterization and in two-mode guided wave devices are discussed. |
