Nanomaterials are the basic building blocks of nanotechnology and nanoscience. Molybdenum disulphide (MoS2) is an inorganic compound and is classified as transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD). Because of its low friction it is used as a dry lubricant. Bulk molybdenum disulfide act as indirect bandgap semiconductor that is similar to silicon. By general Molybdenum disulfide has thermal and chemical stability. They act as more efficient lubricating films. This research aims to develop the molybdenum disulfide flakes with improved properties. Molybdenum disulphide is exfoliated with two solvents (Dimethyl formamide and Benzyl benzoate) in the ratio of (1:1). The exfoliated flakes of MoS2 were stabilized using the surfactant cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB). The oven dried samples were characterized by XRD, Raman and SEM-EDX techniques. The characterization results of XRD and Raman revealed exfoliation of MoS2. Morphology of the flakes were understood from SEM. |
