Formation of soluble fibrin monomer complexes in human plasma

Popis: Small amounts of thrombin were added in vitro to plasma for a short time interval. Following β-alanine precipitation PAA-gel-electrophoresis revealed a component with a relative electrophoretic mobility of 0.28 × 10 −5 cm 2 /V × sec. (fibrinogen 0.43 × 10 −5 cm 2 /V × sec.). Following agarose gel filtration the 0.28 derivative was eluted in the fractions of the shoulder prior to the fibrinogen peak. According to the quantitative relation of the 0.28 derivative to higher forms of monomer units it was demonstrated that short exposure of plasma to small amounts of thrombin resulted predominantly in the occurrence of the 0.28 derivative.
