Popis: Meeting the needs of Russian population for high-quality food products and medicines is the basis of the country’s food security. The production of food products and medicines is a segment of the national economy that provides a full cycle of production, processing, and sale of products. The introduction of economic sanctions implies an increase in the efficiency of production activities of AIC enterprises. Therefore, it is necessary to develop traditional branches of agricultural production in the regions based on production intensification. In the Chuvash Republic, this is hop-growing. In the 1980s–1990s, practically all agricultural enterprises of the Republic were engaged in the cultivation of hops on an industrial basis. In 1990, the Chuvash Republic produced 2.8 thousand tons of hop production. Hops occupied the area of 2.6 thousand per hectare. The average yield in the Republic was 10.8 c/ha. In 2019, the volume of hop production was 177 tons, the yield—17 c/ha, and the area under hops—100 ha. The paper analyzes the problems and priority directions of the development of hop growing at the current stage.
