This chapter serves the purpose of helping researchers get familiar with the Opportunistic Network Environment (ONE). There is much more to explore in the ONE simulator, including using real-world mobility traces and data to writing tests using JUnit which are left to the reader. To be equipped with the skills to do hands-on development and research with the ONE, it is mandatory for the reader to understand how the ONE works internally. The ONE Simulator is a simulation tool widely used by researchers working on research related to Delay-Tolerant Networks and Opportunistic Networks. The default_settings.txt file is essential for running the simulation. It is provided as default with the ONE source code folder and contains some parameters with default values initially. The code starts with initModel() which does initializations for the ONE. It runs completely to set up a lot of the parameters and events. After initModel(), runSim() is run which handles the running of the simulation. |
