Popis: | The influence of abiotic environmental factors on the chemical composition of the red alga Ahnfeltia tobuchiensis was studied. The influence of the depth of growth of the algae on the concentrations of proteins, easily hydrolyzable polysaccharides, and iodine was revealed. The algae species from Stark Strait contain more carbohydrates, from Troitsa Bay, more minerals, and from the Perevoznaya Bay, more proteins and iodine. The concentrations of toxic elements (arsenic, lead, cadmium) in the algae and soils from the same places were studied. A relationship between the depth of algae growth and accumulation of toxic metals therein has been established. No relationship between the elemental compositions of algae and the corresponding soils has been revealed. |
