Popis: | The results of some recent theoretical and experimental investigations on the physics of superheated emulsions are presented. Computational fluid thermodynamics allowed for a detailed description of the temporal and spatial history of the energy deposition process by a charged particle in a superheated liquid. Despite the assumptions it is based upon, this model gives information in agreement with experimental data on bubble nucleation. The experimental findings concern the role of interfacial reactions between drops and emulsifer, the existence of inhibition temperatures for the detector's response, and the progressive sensitisation to protons. |
