Popis: Calcination of Cm 3+ -form Dowex 50W-X8 resin in air or oxygen yields Cm 2 O 2 SO 4 at 900°C and Cm 2 O 3 at 1175°C. A stable compound, probably Cm 2 (SO 4 ) 3 , exists at 760°–870°C. The ionic radius of Cm 3+ in Cm 2 O 2 SO 4 is 0·980 A. Alpha radiation damage in 244 Cm 2 O 2 SO 4 causes loss of structure in ∼3 days and partial degradation to CmO 2 in ∼8 days.
