MOLA Northampton (Museum of London Archaeology) carried out an archaeological excavation at Bedworth Road, Bulkington, Warwickshire prior to a proposed residential development. The investigations took place during November and December 2020 and revealed evidence for late Iron Age/Roman, early medieval and medieval activity. A ditched enclosure, likely established during the late Iron Age and continuing in use until the early/mid Roman period, was identified along with pits and parallel ditches that may represent part of a possible trackway. Evidence for early medieval activity consisted of a sunken-feature building along with a second possible one, pits and a four-post structure. Medieval activity comprised evidence for a post mill that was constructed in the same area as the early medieval features. Post mill, evidence of cross trees and timber beams in situ |
