Popis: | The present study compares the diversity and dominance in three undrainable village ponds of Central Gujarat, namely zero-fed, bag-fed and integrated cage cum pond (ICP) aquaculture systems. Qualitative and quantitative analysis of phytoplankton and zooplankton groups was carried out. The phytoplankton and zooplankton data were analysed using the diversity indices to measure the species abundance, richness and evenness in different culture systems. Margalef’s species richness, Simpson’s index and Shanon–Wiener index were higher for phytoplankton in integrated cage cum pond culture system during monsoon with values of 3.679, 0.9546 and 2.987, respectively. However, Pielou’s eveness index was higher for phytoplankton in bag-fed culture system during monsoon with value of 0.9971. In the case of zooplankton, Margalef’s species richness, Simpson’s index and Shanon–Wiener index were higher for integrated cage cum pond culture system during summer with values 4.034, 0.956 and 3.013, respectively. Pielou’s eveness index was higher for zooplankton in zero-fed system with a value of 0.9932. Canonical correspondence analysis was used to identify relationship between environmental variables and seasonal variation in phytoplankton and zooplankton. K-dominance plot indicated that higher cumulative dominance of phytoplankton and zooplankton was in integrated cage cum pond culture during monsoon and summer, respectively. |
