In recent years, a lot of effort has been made to develop efficient and specific catalysts that harvest light and induce chemical transformations. Upon illumination, several mechanisms like temperature, hot carriers or enhanced electromagnetic fields can lead to catalytic enhancement [1] . In probing the mechanisms, ensemble measurements have limitations caused by the intrinsic heterogeneity of nanostructures. Single-molecule super-resolution fluorescence microscopy ( Fig. 1 ) has been shown to be a powerful tool in studying catalysis on individual nanoparticles as it allows for direct observation of catalytic enhancement under operando conditions [2] . |
