1. 1. Mitochondria, prepared from the medullary-papillary region of kidneys from male adult rats which had been fed with a low (0.015 per cent) dietary concentration of morfamquat dichloride for 18–20 weeks, were functionally examined. 2. 2. Respiratory control indices, P : O ratios, and respiration rates were significantly lower than the corresponding values for control animals. 3. 3. The biochemical lesion was restricted to the medullary-papillary zone, the cortical mitochondria having normal properties. |
