Background Duodenal metastasis of renal cell carcinoma(RCC) is a very rare disease entity, and often occurs years after nephrectomy for RCC. Case presentation: Here we report a case of 53-year-old woman presenting with chronic anemia and malnutrition 4 years after right nephrectomy. On esophagogastroduodenoscopy(EGD), a giant semitransparent mass was located in the descending segment of duodenum, and the patient underwent Whipple’s operation with excellent recovery. The histopathology confirmed the diagnosis of duodenal metastasis of RCC. Conclusion In a patient with past history of nephrectomy for RCC, when encountered with unique endoscopic features, metastasis of RCC should be suspected and perform thorough evaluation, including surgery. |
