Popis: This chapter discusses the analysis of variance. The aim of analysis of variance is to break up total variance into two quantities: variance because of the technique of the experiment, intra-laboratory reproducibility error, and variance produced by the action of the factor studied. In the case of an experiment with many factors the variances because of the action of each separate factor and their interactions are studied with the analysis of variance and the statistical significance of these quantities is estimated by taking into account the reproducibility error. Analysis of variance in the simple form in which it is described in the chapter finds extensive application not only in lengthy and complicated investigations but also in current everyday analytical work, when it is necessary to estimate the contribution of a particular factor to the total error of the analysis.
