In this study, cycling tourism as a recreational activity was handled, and the Hatay bike path, which is one of the longest and uninterrupted bike paths in the world, and its surroundings were examined within the scope of bicycle tourism. In order to use the region, which has and important tourism potential, more efficiently in terms of bicycle tourism, SWOT analysis was made and other recreational tourism types in the region that could be integrated into bicycle tourism were evaluated. In this context, observations were made intermittently in the study area by the researchers. In addition, document analysis was carried out by watching vlogs taken by people who have experienced the relevant bike path and published on the social networking site YouTube, which has international access. As a result of the analysis made, although it is seen that the region has strengths and opportunities in terms of bicycle tourism, it has been determined that the recreational tourism types that can be integrated with bicycle tourism in the region cannot be evaluated sufficiently and there are various deficiencies in the bike path and its surroundings. As a result of the research, various suggestions were offered in order to increase the efficiency of bicycle tourism and the current tourism potential in the region and to reduce the effects of weaknesses and threats. |
