Popis: | The article presents the study on the features of the ophthalmological status of apparently healthy patients after eyelash extension (60 women aged 20 to 38 years) and the development of an algorithm for correcting the violations detected. Duration of wearing extended eyelashes ranged from 6 months to 4 years, an average of 1.4 years. It was found that patients with prolonged and frequent use of extended eyelashes are characterized by complaints typical for dry eye syndrome and/or dysfunction of the meibomian glands; the presence of structural and inflammatory changes in the eyelids, including a high percentage of posterior blepharitis (28.3 %); impaired tear production with the prevalence of increased evaporation of the tear film due to a deficiency of its lipid component (95 %). The use of the proposed algorithm for the management of such patients, which included a three-month course of daily eyelid hygiene with Theagel® (2 times a day for a month, then 1 time a day at bedtime) and Thealoz® Duo (2 times a day for a month, then as needed), allowed reducing the number of complaints (on average by 70 %); increasing subjective comfort (8.0 ± 0.6, p < 0.05); improving the state of the eyelids with a significant decrease in their thickness and swelling in 46.6 % of cases; increasing the results of the Schirmer and Schirmer II tests (an increase of an average of 5.5 mm on the Schirmer test and 4.6 mm on the Schirmer II test (p < 0.05)) and tear breakup time (by an average of 10.8 seconds, p < 0.05). |
