Popis: In this chapter remote sensing techniques are reviewed with an emphasis on describing the benefits that they bring to the study of wildlife ecology. Using the definition of remote sensing as the remote acquisition of information regarding animal ecology from a distance we see that the information acquired is not confined to imagery but may also include information gained from nonimaging technologies as well. This chapter is about augmenting our senses when conditions such as weather, distance, light levels, or some other difficulty limit our sensibilities so that our observations in the field are as informative as they can possibly be.
