A micromethod for the separation of the cations and anions of the bone salt in microscopic bone structures was developed. Microchemical analysis for calcium and phosphorus in Haversian systems and in selected portions of lamellar bone dissected from a transverse section of normal human compact bone tissue was performed. The Ca P ratio of each analyzed structure was determined. No significant variations of the Ca P ratios of the morphologically different structures could be demonstrated. Nor were any variations of the Ca P ratios observed when comparing structures of varying degrees of mineralization. |
