Popis: [Graphic][1] ![Graphic][2] Medical Missions Expand Pathology Services As the practice of modern medicine continues to evolve and expand, the need for global health initiatives across many regions of the world is ever present. Despite modern advances in the practice of pathology and laboratory medicine, numerous areas of the developing world remain largely underserved. Without access to modern laboratory equipment and processes, the few pathologists serving these regions are faced with a profound and growing challenge. Frequently, small hospitals with insufficient staff support massive patient populations requiring access to laboratory medicine. Support from outside organizations, physicians, and laboratory professionals is critical for providing local health systems the necessary tools for patient treatment. Medical missions are an effective strategy for providing support and education to global communities with substantial needs. These missions administer assistance to local medical professionals and facilities while providing patients in the region with improved care and treatment. Dr. Agnes Naujokas of Atlanta Dermatopathology made a medical mission to Cameroon in November 2015. Dr. Naujokas was the sole pathologist at Mbingo Baptist Hospital during her visit. In November 2015, Agne Naujokas, DO, a staff pathologist serving at Atlanta Dermatopathology (PathGroup), embarked on a medical mission to the northwestern region of the African nation Cameroon. … [1]: /embed/inline-graphic-1.gif [2]: /embed/inline-graphic-2.gif
