Popis: | This paper discusses a Monte Carlo solution of multiple scattering in cold neutron scattering experiments. In the calculations performed free gas cross-sections with the scatterer mass A = 1, 2 and 3 are used to investigate the order of magnitude of multiple scattering in hydrogenous samples. The results seem to strengthen the assumption that multiple scattering cannot be ignored. The expected leakage probability (ELP) technique is used in the Monte Carlo solution. Some other means of reducing the variance are studied. |
