Deformation potential of irradiation induced traps in p-type germanium from length measurements

Popis: When p -type germanium is electron irradiated at liquid nitrogen temperature, a metastable electron trap is formed within the forbidden energy gap. Shifting 5 × 10 17 electrons from the valence band to this metastable level produces very little change in length in the sample. This is interpreted to mean that the deformation potential constants are nearly the same for the metastable energy level and the valence band edge.
