Summary Routine transmission electron microscopy of Trypanosoma rangeli culture forms reveals a common ultrastructural pattern with other trypanosomatids. Connections of nuclear envelope and endoplasmatic reticulum are described. Profuse stacked cisternae of rough endoplasmatic reticulum and distended cisternae of smooth endoplasmatic reticulum are shown. Existence of peroxisome-like (glycosomes), multivesicular bodies of different aspects, reservosomes and an unusual double microtubular arrangement randomly distributed nearby the mitochondrial envelope and the kinetoplast are reported for the very first time in this species; biometry is given in addition. Other organelles and inclusions are also described. |
