Popis: Water leaks are common source of loss and damage in buildings, which gives rise to a demand for effective and affordable leak detection systems. Here, a novel leak detection system is proposed, utilizing energy-generating leak detection sensors. A custom PCB is fabricated to power a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacon from the sensor output, eliminating the need for an external power source, such as a battery. The BLE beacon signals are integrated into a novel Bluetooth mesh network for endpoint user notification. A multi-node version of the system was tested and found to be functional, showing the scalability of the design. The system is self-resetting after leaks are no longer present, removing need for human intervention to reset individual devices in the network.
