Popis: A pedestrian running a red light is the most common illegal behavior in pedestrian traffic. Not only is the traffic offender a great danger to himself, but he also impedes a smooth road — a great inducement for causing traffic accidents. This paper analyzed the causes of the universal problem of pedestrians running red lights. A self-designed questionnaire was used and got 1,254 pieces of data after observations and investigations in six intersection fields in Hefei. Using statistical methods for data analysis and processing, the authors concluded how various factors influence the behaviors of pedestrians running red lights. According to the conclusions, the authors proposed strategies and recommendations regarding the behavior of urban pedestrians running red lights.
