Joaquin Valley, is completely dependent upon ground water for its domestic and industrial water supply. The city and its surrounding unincorporated urban area have expanded into the nearby agricultural areas, which, previous to development, used ground water only as a dryyear supplement to surface-irrigation water supplied from storage on the King's and San Joaquin rivers. This progressive shift in land and water use, with its effect on the area's surfaceand ground-water distribution, has resulted in an accelerated drop of water-table elevations beneath the urban area. |
