Popis: | Glucagon and catecholamines share numerous metabolic effects. In addition, catecholamines are potent stimulators of glucagon secretion and, under certain conditions, glucagon stimulates catecholamine release from the adrenal medulla. Finally, the involvement of catecholamines has been invoked to explain some of the metabolic actions of glucagon. The stimulation of glucagon release by catecholamines has been reviewed in detail in Chap. 30 while the possible involvement of catecholamines in some effects of glucagon has been considered in Chaps. 37 and 38. In this short contribution, we will summarize the in vitro and in vivo studies dealing with the effects of glucagon on catecholamine release and review the potential of these findings for the diagnosis of pheochromocytoma. |
