Current embedded audio-video (AV) playback systems often require more computing power than can be provided by a single DSP or media processor. In such situations, the AV decoding and effects-processing operations of a single playback chain can be split over multiple processing cores. The current paper explores the implications of PTS-based AV synchronization in this scenario, and presents a set of system-level design patterns that can be used to solve the associated multimedia presentation problems. |
