Drawing on game theory, this paper intends to discuss the economic regulation in the light of the possibility of occurring the capture of the regulatory agencies by the regulated interests. Having as its starting point the game modulated according to a survey conducted by Fernando Meneguin and Mauricio Bugarin, this paper introduces the subject criticizing the results achieved by the authors, who did not consider the possibility of the capture, not even the high costs required by economic regulation. Subsequently, this paper suggests, as an alternative solution to the problems added to the analysis of the issue, the implementation of measures related to the promotion of competition, which is conventionally called competition advocacy. |
