Popis: Chlorides as CaCl2 and NaCl were added in differing dosages to mixes of portland cement and fly ash‐portland cement mortars. Cylindrical mortar specimens were sealed and cured in a fog room for periods varying from one to 28 weeks. Expressed pore solution was analyzed for OH- and Cl- ions. The results indicate that the cations influence the levels of OH- and Cl-; NaCl raised the OH- level, and CaCl2 lowered it. Free Cl- was higher with NaCl addition than with the addition of CaCl2. The results also indicated that the presence of fly ash decreases OH- concentration specially when CaCl2 is the additive. Fly ash presence resulted in a higher Cl-/OH- ratio in both cases of CaCl2 and NaCl additions of up to 1.5% of Cl- by weight of the cementitious material.
