With forthcoming Euro 5 regulations on emissions levels in 2008–2010, the challenge for diesel engines consists in drastically reducing NOx and particles emissions. To that end, IFP has developed a new combustion system called NADITM (Narrow Angle Direct Injection) with an innovative air intake architecture designed by Valeo that strongly reduces NOx emissions without impairing fuel consumption. The system is based on a low temperature combustion that uses cooled recirculated exhaust gases. |
