Conversion efficiency estimation for an interleaved high-step-up converter

Popis: This paper first presents a novel interleaved high-step-up converter (IHSUC) and then derives the equation for power-loss calculation to estimate the efficiency of the converter. The IHSUC mainly includes two power switches, two coupled inductors, four diodes, and three capacitors, which can boost up a low voltage to a high level for grid applications. Therefore, it is suitable to deal with the power generated by distrusted energy resources (DER). To process the power of DER, the magnitude of power loss dominates the performance of a converter. In this paper, a theoretical and systematic estimation of an IHSUC is developed. Estimated results are compared with that measured from a prototype to verify the correctness of the calculation.
