Popis: Research and conceptualization about criminal victimization has advanced considerably in recent decades. Studies of the relationships between offending and victimization, the consequences of childhood victimization, measurement studies, comparative research, and a large literature investigating the roles of settings, opportunities, and situations conducive to victimization have enriched criminology in numerous ways. These contributions provide vital data and concepts that pertain to the scope and validity of theories purporting to be general theories of crime. This chapter considers key developments in both data and concepts about criminal victimization in light of modern control theory.
