Popis: | Fifty years ago, Nikuradse propounded the concept of a universal conduction characteristic, valid for all liquid dielectrics in a state of high purity. In this paper, it is shown that the laws of electrochemical kinetics, when applied to injection currents through double layers, lead to conduction characteristics expressible in simple mathematical terms and very similar to Nikuradse's. There remains, however, a discrepancy as to the critical field strength starting the exponential rise of the current. This is presumably due to a lowering of the injection barrier within the double layer by residual electrolytic ions swept by the field from the bulk of the liquid. |
