KLARNER 2 Abstract 1 One of the most significant challenges in the development of the Nakhla oil field is to predict the heterogeneity inherent to the fluvial reservoir. To compound the problem fluvial sandstones have in parts been invaded by volcanoclastics (fig.1). The goal of the reservoir characterisation study was to quantify critical reservoir properties and to identify the occurrence of nonreservoirs such as the volcanoclastics.
