Popis: This chapter begins with a description of the arrests of Aum's last remaining fugitives in 2012, and how the manhunt for Takahashi Katsuya generated a media spectacle and a renewed public interest in the Aum Affair. This chapter shows that there have been polyphonic representations of the perpetrator as an identity. The Canary Society, an anti-cult group comprised of ex-members, has consistently supported mind control theory. By contrast, many other rank-and-file and senior members have rejected mind control, characterising their actions as misguided faith. Aum's former leadership figures have justified their current actions through a combination of apology and redress. Jōyū Fumihiro, leader of the offshoot Hikari no Wa, has justified his group's activities as necessary for paying compensation, while Noda Naruhito has also justified his social housing business as a means to provide redress. The final section discusses how the trauma of perpetrators has been passed onto two of Asahara's daughters. Asahara's third daughter, Matsumoto Rika, has questioned Asahara's culpability in the attacks and had demanded Asahara to be treated for mental illness, while his fourth daughter, Matsumoto Satoka (alias), supported the brainwashing narrative and accepted her father was ultimately responsible.
