The chapter provides an overview of the main regulatory actions regarding carbon capture, utilization, and storage in the European Union. It researches directives and regulations as well as the policies this regulatory scheme is aimed at. It also identifies key stakeholders at the local level, namely, within the Member States of the European Union as well as those in the supranational sphere itself, and how their interests were addressed. The chapter also discusses recent experiences in key countries (Netherlands and Norway) that are explicitly members involved in the carbon capture and storage technologic path. |
