Popis:	An overview is given of the psychosomatic component of myalgia by taking the multidisciplinary bio-psycho-social model of Engel into account. Based on two cases, it is shown that socio-psychological pressures and learn-psychological aspects have a high impact on the process of the disease. It turns out that a long-term alleviation of myalgia is only possible if, in addition to physical symptoms, the psychological function of these complaints (e. g., psychological relief, protection of self-esteem) will be considered as well. Therefore, the therapeutic approach for myalgia should be psychosomatic with the intention of creating a relationship between the mental and the physical states.
