Determination of the activation energy of destruction and the structurally sensitive coefficient for polyvinylbutyrals

Popis: The activation energy of destruction U 0 and the structurally sensitive coefficient γ have been determined for polyvinylbutyrals (PVB) with varying degrees of substitution N . It was found that up to N = 60 mole% relations of γ to N are satisfactorily described by the formula γ = γ 0 + AN , where γ 0 is the structurally sensitive coefficient for PVA, A is a constant multiplier for a given series of polymers. By determining limits of applicability of the above formula for any series of copolymers one can predict the strength properties of polymers in the series in question.
