Popis:	This paper is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of one of the authors of the molecular-mechanical theory of friction, outstanding tribologist I.V. Kragel’skii. The nature of the mechanical and molecular components of friction is analyzed; the experimental methods of their determination and the mutual influence of these components are considered.
