The theory of information originated by Shannon (4) is applied by Hick (3) to explain dependency between the mean size of the latency period associated with choice reaction and the complexity of the choice. in the course of the following year, there appeared numerous studies in this direction. In our previous work (2), the dependency of the latent period on complexity of choice, when the correlation between signal and reaction changed for every successive reaction, was sed. It was established that under definite conditions, the mean size of the latency period depends on the quantity of useful information. The concept of useful information and the methods for its measurement in different conditions were defined by M. M. Bongard (1). in the particular case of choice reaction studied in our work, it was established through utilization of the formalization, given by Bongard, that the system exercising choice has a retroactive linkage and a rigid sequence of selection. |
