Popis: Amyloidosis is a disease characterized by the intercellular deposition of amyloid fibrils in various tissues and organs. The eitology and treatment method are unknown in spite of many studies.A case of primary amyloidosis is reported. The patient was a 54-year-old woman who complained of tumor formation at the soft plate. She had been followed by the department of internal medicine for about two years. Various organs in her oral cavity were getting involved for the past year.Light and electron microscopic studies were caned out on tissues excised from the tumor of the soft plate and tongue. An eosinophilic amorphous substance was seen by light microscopically, throughout the subepithelium. Electron microscopically, felt-like appearance of amyloid fibrils was clearly seen and the fibrils varied 80 to 100 A in width. Cells embedded in the fibrils showed various changes on the cell membranes and cytoplasms.
