Lability of the networks of hydrogen bonds in liquid diols and amino alcohols, according to the baric dependence of bulk viscosity

Popis: | The bulk viscosity of three vicinal diols and three vicinal amino alcohols is measured on a unique direct compression setup in the pressure range of 0.1–300 MPa. The bulk viscosity of all the liquids is found to grow with increasing pressure. The baric dependence of bulk viscosity is proposed as a lability characteristic of the spatial network of hydrogen bonds. The network of amino alcohols is more labile than in diols, butane derivatives crystallize at 80 MPa (butanediol) and 200–250 MPa (amino butanol), and the other diols and amino alcohols remain liquid over the investigated range of pressures. |
