Popis: Rubromycins are important group of anticancer antibiotics produced naturally by different Actinomycetes strains. This telomerase-inhibiting anticancer molecules are very attractive than other chemotherapy. This is based on their less side effects and the less probability of cancer cell resistance. Of different types of rubromycins discovered, the most potent members are the β- and γ-rubromycin based on their strong human telomerase inhibition activities. This chapter provides comprehensive overview on the recent development in rubromycins research. It covers many aspects including chemistry, mode of action, and application as anticancer compound. In addition, it covers also aspects related to the biosynthesis and production process of this important class of antibiotics.
