Popis: The results of an IR spectroscopic study of the dilute ethanol solutions in liquid hydrides of group IV−VI elements in the temperature range from boiling point Tb of the hydride up to 290 K (250 K for silane) are given. Similar to ethanol solutions in conventional organic solvents, the ethanol impurity in hydride solutions is presented as monomers, dimers, and more complex aggregates. The spectral parameters of corresponding bands are measured. It was found that interaction between ethanol and silane or germane molecules in the liquid phase is nonspecific (van der Waals) in nature, but in ethanol solutions in liquid PH3, AsH3, H2S, and H2Se weak H bond formation takes place. The energy of this specific interaction is estimated.
