Popis: The rate of acetylcobalt tetracarbonyl methanolysis between 40 and 60 °C is first-order with respect to the acetylcobalt tetracarbonyl concentration and independent of the carbon monoxide concentration. The reaction is susceptible to both acid and base catalysis. Nucleophilic substitution of Co(CO) 4 on the acyl carbonyl-carbon by methanol is the most probable pathway.
