SANS evidence for density fluctuations in Pd80(SixGe1−x)20 glassy ribbons prepared by planar-flow-casting and melt-spinning

Popis: We measure the small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) in wide glassy Pd 80 (Si x Ge 1− x ) 20 ribbons prepared by quenching from the liquid state by the planar-flow-casting technique. From the composition dependence of the scattered intensity we deduce that concentration fluctuations do not contribute to the observed SANS. This and the quench-rate dependence of the intensity indicates that defects diffusing the neutrons are density fluctuations.
