This paper deals with the use of multiphase induction machines in renewable energy applications such as wind energy conversion. Firstly, the dynamic model of the turbine and Dual Star Induction Generator (DSIG) is given and then a simple control strategy is applied to ensure a constant DC bus voltage under variable speed and at different loads. The system control is made based on indirect rotor flux orientation allowing DC bus control and DSIG excitation. Finally, the performance of the power generation system are confirmed by a set of experiments, carried-out on an experimental test bench composed Wind Turbine Emulator (WTE) using a DC motor coupled to 5.5kW/6 poles DSIG. The experimental results demonstrate that the DC bus voltage is well controlled under different operating conditions of load and speed variations. |
