Popis: A patient with diagnoses of asthma, recurrent pneumonia and bronchiectasis was observed over the course of 15 years. Open lung biopsy revealed eosinophilic pneumonia. This perplexing syndrome was diagnosed only after recognition of its similarity to that of allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis. Review of the biopsy and results of appropriate serologic and skin tests permitted a specific diagnosis of allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis. This association of Aspergillus with the well-defined histologic entity of eosinophilic pneumonia makes it imperative to search for this agent in such cases. Whether Aspergillus is a frequent cause remains to be determined.
