Advance in the scaling up of a hybrid catalyst for NSR-SCR coupled systems under H2O + CO2 atmosphere

Popis: An efficient De-NOxing after-treatment technology could be technically solved by scaling up a hybrid NSR-SCR structured catalyst. A reproducible synthesis approach of NSR and SCR monolithic catalyst has been developed, able to eliminate NOx and achieve zero emissions in the exhaust gases of diesel engines. Pt-Ba-K/Al2O3 and 2Cu-SAPO-34, as improved formulations, were incorporated as active-phase using an alumina-coated cordierite monolith-support. DeNOx overall activity, performed in NSR conditions with presence of water and CO2 atmosphere, showed a complete concordance with the results for the catalysts in powder form. At low GHSV, the operation parameters provided conversion values around 97% with minimum NO slip ensuring zero emissions under lab-scale conditions. The operational parameters as hydrogen concentration of 1% and θ (lean/rich time ratio) value of 7, are enough to achieve more than 95% of conversion of NOx with total selectivity to nitrogen in the whole temperature range. The NSR-SCR hybrid system with volumetric ratio 1:1 and active phase load of 2 wt% produces high levels of mineralization to nitrogen without N2O or NH3 slip in cyclic conditions tested in water and CO2.
